Applications Being Accepted Now for the 2017 Michael Nyuis Scholarship Program

West Palms Events is proud to announce the Third Annual Michael Nyuis Scholarship. Find all forms and information at our website by clicking here! The Michael Nyuis Scholarship was created through West Palms Events to offer recipients the resources to further their training and equestrian education through horse showing. It is named in the memory of West Palms Events’ Dale Harvey’s nephew, who always helped others whenever he had the chance.
Dale Harvey’s nephew, Michael Nyuis, always lent a helping hand. Shown here practicing one of his favorite past times, snowboarding.

The scholarship gives five young riders the opportunity to attend a variety of high-level equestrian competitions throughout the show season. These riders will be chosen by the West Palms Events’ selection committee based on their commitment to, love for and dedication to the sport. These scholarships are intended for riders who have the passion and drive to compete, but lack the financial resources to do so consistently throughout the year.

“The Michael Nyuis Scholarship provided me the rare opportunity to compete at more high quality horse shows than before due to monetary constraints,” said 2015 Michael Nyuis Scholarship Winner Ian McFarlane. “It was also extremely interesting and educational to be able to shadow the course designer Alan Wade and the FEI veterinarian at Sacramento International last year through this program. This program enabled me to be the PCHA Junior Jumper Champion of the 2015 season. I urge all juniors with aspirations of careers within the sport to apply for this scholarship, as I am very proud to be able to say that I was one of the first three recipients. I would like to once extend my gratitude to Dale Harvey for starting this wonderful program in honor of Michael Nyuis.”
The Michael Nyuis Scholarship offers $6,500 dollars in horse show credit, to be used at all West Palms Events’ horse shows, except Del Mar National. The applications are open now through December 1, 2016.

Five Scholarship opportunities are offered in 2017: One to a Canadian rider; three to United States riders and one to the winner of the 2017 Onondarka Medal Finals, held at the Del Mar International Horse Show.
