Del Mar International Horse Show and Del Mar Horse Park Presented Three Weeks of Thrilling Competition in 2015

The Del Mar International Horse Show was the setting for three weeks of competition with a stacked line-up of national and international competitors including show-jumping favorites Will Simpson, Kent Farrington, Beezie Madden, Lauren Hough, Eric Navet, Karl Cook and many more.

Over the course of the shows, Del Mar featured the $150,000 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Del Mar, numerous Grand Prixs, Grand Prix Hunter Derbies, the PCHA/Equine Insurance Child/Adult Hunter Championship, the Onondarka Medal Finals and all our very special Hunter and Jumper Classics on Classic Sundays!

Highlights of 2015
Del Mar International Welcome Week
In the  $25,000 Welcome Prix, Mandy Porter and Eminent bested 43 entries to take first, with Karl Cook and Cailou 24 second and Michelle Parker on Cupilor third.
The  $45,500 Grand Prix of the Pacific, presented by Copernicus Stables, saw Will Simpson and The Dude take first, Karl Cook and Tembla second, and Eric Navet and Jonkheer Z third place.

The  $25,000 LA Saddlery 1.45M saw Will Simpson and The Dude triumph over 39 entrie s, with Mandy Porter and Eminent close behind to take second and Eric Navet on Jonkheer Z in third.  In the  PCHA/Equine Insurance Child/Adult Hunter Championship , Karen O’Leonard and La Reina Ranch’s LRR Barnaby earned the Overall Championship in this prestigious event.

In the hotly contested  $150,000 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Del Mar,  Beezie Madden on Simon bested a field of 28 to take the win, Jack Towell on Lucifer V earned second, and Christian Heineking and NKH Quanto were third.
In the  $33,000 Welcome 1.45M Presented by Trelawny Farm, it was Jack Towell and New York first, Kirsten Coe and California 62 second and Lauren Hough and Cornet 30 rounding out the top three.
The  $35,000 Del Mar Charity 1.50M, presented by Davlyn Farms saw Richard Spooner and Chivas Z gallop into first, and Kent Farrington aboard Belle Fleur 38 take second, while Enrique Gonzales and Chacna settled for third.

Richard Spooner and Mighty Mouse bested the field in the 1.45M Presented by Robin Parsky as well! The Master of Faster showed off his skills at the Del Mar International Horse Show!

The  GGT-Footing Grand Prix Series Finale was won by Mandy Porter and Eminent, with Christian Heineking on NKH Selena second and Ray Texel aboard Coupis earning third. The GGT-Footing Series will be returning in 2016 show season, a big thank you to our wonderful sponsors, GGT-Footing for their continued support with the series!

In the  Grand Prix Hunter Derby Final, Presented by Mark & Julie Hancock of Camelot Homes, Jenny Karazissis aboard Emily Sukert’s Legacy took home first, and second place also went to Jenny, this time on Hope Town Farms’ Undeniable. Celano, owned by Robert Peters II, and ridden by Michael Leon earned third.

In the  PCHA/Equine Insurance Child/Adult Jumper Championship, it was Alyce Bittar aboard Beirut B who won the Overall Championship.
In the  Onondarka Medal Finals, Natalie Templeton took first place in the extremely competitive  Finals, with Bianca Jenkins earning second and Amber Ayyad third. Thank you again to the Simington family for their support and allowing us to host the Onondarka Medal Finals at the Del Mar International Horse Show!

Also during World Cup Week, spectators had a chance to cheer on their favorite relay teams in West Palms Events’ Charity Woof Cup Challenge, which paired elite Grand Prix and celebrity riders, with an agility dog and handler to complete a relay course for their selected charity. We thank everyone who participated in and supported these charities and their efforts!

Del Mar International Horse Park
Del Mar Horse Park, the final week in our  three week series boasted beautiful weather, great horses and riders, and a relaxed atmosphere – for a super ending to an exciting season at Del Mar!
Our congratulations to Mattias Ekeroth aboard Dacarlos, who triumphed over 23 entries to take the win in our  $10,000 Del Mar Finale Prix. Second place went to Bjorn Ikast and Colorado, and third went to Carlos Hank riding Kepex.

Other accomplishments this week included Bjorn Ikast’s back to back wins: Bjorn earned the blue aboard his mount Spice Boy in the  $250 1.30M Jumpers on Thursday and came back on Friday riding his own Supernatural to win Friday’s  $5,000 1.35M Jumpers. Bjorn was also second in Friday’s class riding Brenda Bottum’s Candy Man. Also on Friday, Taylor Cassar won the  Children’s/AA Jumper 1.20M on Sambucca, with Lauren Quigley on Dr. Love earning second.
