Exciting New Program Announced to Support the Compton Jr. Posse in 2016 at all West Palms Events’ Shows

West Palms Events is a proud supporter of the Compton Jr. Posse, and today we are pleased to introduce a brand new horse showing opportunity for CJP youth.

During our 2016 show season, West Palms Events will take care of all expenses for two horses to show with CJP members at every West Palms Events horse show. We will also reach out to local trainers at each of our venues to assist the CJP riders in meeting their show goals, and in the process, expose them to different teaching styles and ways to acquire poise and confidence in the show ring.
West Palms Events 2016 Compton Jr. Posse Initiatives:
  • All expenses paid for two horses at each West Palms Events show
  • Trainer outreach at each show to provide coaching and guidance
  • Applicable experience for CJP at the horse shows
“I am so excited to offer the CJP kids this wonderful opportunity,” Dale Harvey of West Palms Events said. “This is an amazing program and I have always supported Mayisha’s efforts, but this year we are taking it up a notch to give CJP members a real horse show experience they can remember for a long time to come.” He added, “Horses and horse showing are a way for children to engage with animals, challenge themselves, gain confidence and learn positive sportsmanship. I can’t wait to see how these kids respond.”

In 2015, Dale was honored for his work with CJP, receiving a special “Life-Changing Partner Award” from founder and executive director Mayisha Akbar. The award celebrated Dale’s work with and commitment to the inner-city youth group.

“Thanks to Dale Harvey for giving CJP riders the opportunity of a lifetime by making our riders’ dreams of competing come true,” said Mayisha Akbar, founder of CJP. “Thank you for helping keep kids on horses and off the streets! See you at West Palms Events’ horse shows!”

to Keep At-Risk Kids On Track
Toward a Positive Future
The CJP mission is “keeping kids ON horses and OFF the streets!” Founded in 1988 by Akbar, the program provides inner-city youth with a year-round after school program that uses equestrian activities to inspire youth to reach their personal, academic and career goals – a powerful alternative to the equally powerful lure of gang and drug lifestyles. CJP’s award-winning program has given inner city kids a framework for success by teaming them with horses and highly skilled instructors such as Olympic Gold Medalist Will Simpson. In 2014 the CJP provided service to over 1500 inner city youth, and scholarships to 12 CJP youth in college.
