West Palms Events is pleased to announce our second annual Michael Nyuis Scholarship program for the 2018 show season. We are offering up to three horse show scholarships per year for United States Riders, one for a Canadian Rider and one for the Champion of the Onondarka Medal Finals! Each scholarship has a value of $6,500.00, to be used towards show credit at any West Palms Events managed show, excluding Del Mar National .

The scholarship applications are open from October 10 through January 1, 2018, with everything in hand to West Palms by January 1, 2017. The forms this year will be through an electronic system, please find the links below!

This year’s selection committee will be made up of three important lifetime contributors to equestrian sport, soon to be announced!

These scholarships are intended for riders who have the passion and drive to compete, but lack the financial resources to do so consistently throughout the year. You should only apply for the scholarship if you intend to utilize the funds in the 2018 Show Season.

Riders must fall under the following criteria:

  • Age 16-25 at the time of application
  • Must show commitment to the sport
  • Must show interest in potentially pursuing a career as a professional in the equestrian industry

The following need to be filled out electronically and submitted to be considered for the 2018 Michael Nyuis Scholarship Program:

  • Guidelines Acknowledgement – Please sign digital guidelines form provided below
  • Application – The application is located through the link provided below and must be filled out completely in order to be considered.
  • Short Essay – We want to know a brief history of your riding career, and what you are currently doing with your riding. We want to know what your current life goals are and how you balance work, school (if applicable) and riding throughout the week. The main part of the essay will be what your riding goals are and why you deserve this scholarship. You should include why you are interested in competing at West Palms Events’ shows and if you intend to pursue an equestrian career. What about the sport made you want to pursue a professional career in the equestrian industry?
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation – The letters of recommendation application is located through the link below and must be completed by the deadline of January 1, 2018. The application needs to be filled out by 3 people that are not family, two of which must be professionals in the equestrian industry.
  • 1 Video uploaded to YouTube, Paste Link into Field in Electronic Application Form – The video needs to show your riding level, what discipline you are competing in (hunter, jumper or/and equitation) and the height you are planning on showing at for the 2018 season. The video should be no longer than 2 minutes and must be current with the date of the filming provided.
