Last weekend I was able to compete at the Huntington Beach Summer Classic put on by West Palms Events. My overall experience at the show was amazing, and it was a great experience for me to learn more about the horse I was riding.

The horse that I rode, Cairo, was a very new mount for me that I plan on doing in Medal Finals, so I went into the show seeing it as an opportunity to see how well we would along in the show ring. Showing him in the Grand Prix Ring with very nice jumper jumps gave me a feel for how he would be at Medal Finals. I competed in all of the equitation and medals, ending up Champion in the Equitation 15-17, first in the USHJA Medal, and second in both the Maclay and CPHA Foundation. The show gave me a boost in confidence, due to the fact that I was able to see that Cairo and I were able to get along well.
Just as all of previous West Palms shows I have attended have been, the Huntington Summer Classic was run extremely well and was very enjoyable to be at. The show rings and warm up rings were always in great condition, which is one of many details that made the show so comfortable. As I mentioned before, this show was an incredible opportunity to grow and learn with the horse I was riding. None of this would’ve been possible without the Michael Nyuis Scholarship, and I am so grateful to have received it as it has helped me pursue my goals this show season. I cannot wait to show at the Del Mar National in October, because that is by far one of my favorite shows every year!
